Fourteen- and fifteen-year-old siblings Tim and Susi are tired of always spending their summer vacations at home. But their parents, two stuck-in-their-ways welfare recipients, are at a loss and penniless. Eventually, they set off anyway and, by chance, end up with a flamboyant group of artists who plan to stage a rock opera in Blechbach in the Ore Mountains.
